Tom Greenwood, CEO of Velocity and founder of the London-based fintech company Volt, is in critical condition following a serious quad bike accident on the Greek island of Mykonos.

The accident occurred on Wednesday while Greenwood was on holiday. He sustained multiple fractures from the waist down and initially received emergency treatment at Mykonos Health Center. During his care, however, he also suffered a heart attack, further complicating his condition.

Emergency evacuation and surgery

An attempt was first made to transfer him by helicopter through private insurance, but the crew declined due to the severity of his condition and the low chance of survival. Eventually, Greece’s National Emergency Center (EKAB) arranged an air transfer by medical aircraft to Nikaia General Hospital in Athens.

During the flight, doctors had to repeatedly intervene to resuscitate him. He was placed on a ventilator and underwent hours of surgery upon arrival. As of Thursday, doctors described his condition as stable but extremely serious.

Who is Tom Greenwood?
