Athens’ open-air street markets will continue to serve shoppers throughout the Christmas period, with adjusted holiday hours announced by the Athens Federation of Street Market Vendors (POSPLA).

In a statement, the federation stressed that local markets remain “a constant point of reference for festive shopping in every neighbourhood,” offering a wide range of products and sufficient supplies ahead of the holidays.

According to POSPLA, all street markets will operate as normal on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, giving consumers the opportunity to stock up on fresh produce and other essentials for the holiday table, as well as gifts for all ages.

Markets will remain closed on Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, in observance of the official Christmas public holidays.

Vendors will return to their stalls on Saturday, December 27, resuming regular operations and welcoming shoppers once again.

Reiterating their role during the festive season, the federation noted that street markets across Athens continue to offer quality, variety and direct service, remaining a trusted destination for holiday shopping.
