Firefighting services were placed on high alert on Monday afternoon (June 22) following the outbreak of a wildfire in a forested area in the Akraifnio area of the Boeotia regional unit, in central Greece.
According to the Fire Service, 40 firefighters have been deployed to the scene with 9 ground vehicles, while aerial support consists of 7 fixed-wing aircraft and 1 helicopter.
Moments after the fire broke out, Greece’s emergency alert system sent a 112 notification urging residents of the area to remain on standby and follow instructions from the authorities.
