A wildfire broke out on Wednesday afternoon in the area of Lachi, located in the regional unit of Laconia in southern Greece. According to the latest reports, the blaze is currently burning low vegetation.
Firefighting units were immediately dispatched to the scene following the alert. A total of 22 firefighters are currently battling the flames, supported by a specialized ground unit.
Authorities have not yet provided information on any potential threats to residential areas or infrastructure. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage.
This incident comes amid heightened wildfire risk during the Greek summer, a season often marked by high temperatures and dry conditions that can fuel fast-spreading fires.
