A wildfire erupted on the Greek island of Lesvos on Monday afternoon, raising concerns as the blaze approaches a nearby residential area.

The fire broke out in the Kerami area, near the town of Kalloni, located in the western part of Lesvos. According to local reports, the fire is currently burning low vegetation.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with strong firefighting forces already on site. Fire crews are being supported by water tankers from the Municipality of Western Lesvos to help contain the blaze.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation due to the fire’s proximity to homes, but no evacuations have been reported at this stage.

The firefighting effort remains ongoing.
