Golf Greece Junior Open Showcases Rising Young Talent

The inaugural Golf Greece Junior Open brought together 71 young golfers ages 5 to 17 at Glyfada Golf Club, marking the launch of a new nationwide junior tournament aimed at developing the next generation of players in Greece.

Co-organized by Golf Greece and the Glyfada Golf Club of Athens, with the support of Logika and Kilada Golf, the event attracted participants from leading golf academies across the country, including clubs in Athens, Messinia, and the Peloponnese. The strong turnout reflected the growing interest in junior golf and the sport’s continued development among younger players.

The tournament featured four competition divisions tailored to different age groups and skill levels. Advanced players competed in an 18-hole Competition Zone with Gross and Net scoring, while developing golfers took part in a nine-hole Stableford event. Younger participants competed in a six-hole Progress Zone, and beginners were introduced to tournament play through a three-hole Future Zone.

Organizers designed the event to provide a professional competition experience for every participant. Alongside official scoring, members of Greece’s national golf teams supported players in the younger divisions, offering guidance and assisting with scoring throughout the day. Spectators were also able to follow the action through live coverage from selected holes displayed on an LED screen at the clubhouse.

The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony at Colonial, where winners received prizes including stay-and-play packages at some of Greece’s leading golf courses—Crete Golf Club, Porto Carras Golf Club, Corfu Golf Club, and Afandou Golf Course—as well as annual Golf Chamber memberships and sailing experiences.
