Tsitsipas Ends Partnership with Ivanisevic, Father Returns as Coach

"Working with Goran Ivanisevic was a brief but intense experience, and a truly valuable chapter in my journey" said Tsitsipas

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has officially ended his coaching collaboration with Goran Ivanisevic after just 37 days, marking a brief and ultimately turbulent chapter in the 26-year-old’s career.

The split follows public comments made by Ivanisevic on Serbian television after Wimbledon, where the 53-year-old Croatian coach raised concerns about Tsitsipas’ physical condition. These remarks reportedly left Tsitsipas visibly displeased, contributing to the decision to part ways.

Taking over coaching duties once again is Tsitsipas’ father, Apostolos Tsitsipas. He is set to return to the helm immediately and will debut his renewed role at the upcoming tournament in Toronto. Joining him on the team will be former Brazilian tennis player Vinicius de Oliveira, who is expected to support the coaching efforts moving forward.

In an official statement, Stefanos Tsitsipas acknowledged the value of his short stint with Ivanisevic:

“Working with Goran Ivanisevic was a brief but intense experience, and a truly valuable chapter in my journey. I’m grateful for the time, effort, and energy he dedicated to me and my team. As we now go our separate ways, I hold nothing but respect for Goran—not only for what he has achieved in tennis but also for who he is as a person. I wish him all the best moving forward.”
