The program assesses beaches based on water quality, waste management, lifeguard presence, accessibility, environmental education, and other infrastructure.

Leading the way domestically, Halkidiki emerged as the top region with 93 flags, while Crete maintained its lead with 153 flags.

The beaches failed to meet the set standards, including lacking facilities and environmental protection, the report said.
