Exceptionally low water levels on the Danube River in Serbia have exposed dozens of German World War II warships deliberately scuttled in 1944, creating both a historical landmark and a navigation hazard.

Record-low water levels in Europe’s major rivers are disrupting shipping, energy production and tourism, as prolonged drought and heatwaves expose the growing impact of climate pressures.
