Low-cost carrier EasyJet on March 29 launched its first direct flight connecting Amsterdam with Thessaloniki, marking a further expansion of its network into northern Greece.
Passengers arriving on the inaugural flight were welcomed by representatives of the airport and the airline, highlighting the growing importance of Thessaloniki as a regional hub. The new route is expected to boost accessibility to the city, known for its rich history and vibrant cultural and culinary scene, supporting both tourism and business travel.
The connection is also seen as strengthening air links between the Netherlands and northern Greece, with positive implications for tourism flows and trade.
EasyJet announced it will further expand its presence with a new route between Bristol and Thessaloniki starting June 20, operating twice weekly. The move underscores easyJet’s continued investment in the Greek market and its effort to broaden travel options.
“With the addition of Amsterdam and the upcoming Bristol route, our network in Thessaloniki will grow to seven routes across five European countries,” said Lorenzo Lagorio, the company’s country manager for Greece and Italy.
George Vilos, development director at Fraport Greece, said the new route enhances the city’s international connectivity and strengthens its position as a popular destination for both tourism and business travel.
