A low front on Friday will bring thunderstorms across the country from early Friday afternoon until Saturday at noon, with heavy rain and lighting forecast.

According to a weather bulletin issued by Greece’s meteorological service, the inclement weather will begin from the west and quickly spread to the rest of mainland Greece and across the Aegean.

Winds will be strong, reaching up to 7 and locally 8 on the Beaufort scale.

During the evening hours, the thunderstorms will spread further eastward and affect central and eastern Macedonia (Pieria, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki prefectures, as well as  Serres and Kavala).

The weather front is expected to clear by Saturday afternoon throughout much of the east Mediterranean country.
