China has called for deeper energy cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, as Premier Li Qiang met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in Beijing on Monday.

According to state broadcaster CCTV, Li said China is willing to strengthen its energy partnership with the UAE and expand cooperation into emerging sectors.

Focus on clean energy and new technologies

The Chinese premier highlighted potential collaboration in energy storage, hydrogen energy, and new energy vehicles.

The comments reflect Beijing’s interest in broadening ties beyond traditional oil and gas cooperation into newer areas of energy development and green technology.

Call for protection of Chinese nationals

During the talks, Li also raised concerns over the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects operating in the UAE amid the ongoing war in Iran.

He urged the UAE to take “strong measures” to ensure their protection.

Li said China would continue to make constructive efforts aimed at helping bring an end to the conflict in Iran, according to the state media report.
