All European Union informal councils will proceed as planned in Cyprus from April through June, Cyprus Energy Minister Michalis Damianos confirmed on Monday. The meetings had been postponed or moved online in March following a drone strike on a British air base amid the ongoing Iran crisis.

Drone Strike Disruption

Cypriot officials reported that the attack involved an Iranian-made Shahed drone, likely launched by Iran-backed Hezbollah from Lebanon. The incident prompted the temporary shift of EU meetings online and raised concerns about security in the region.

“Back to Normal”

Damianos emphasized that all EU business will resume as usual: “Things are all back to normal. All business, including your business resumes, and all informal councils to be held in Cyprus between April and June will be held in the normal way,” he said ahead of a European foreign affairs meeting in Brussels.
