A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of a father and his two children on Romania’s infamous DN6 highway, often referred to as the “Death Road” due to its history of fatal collisions.
According to local authorities, the family of three were traveling in a van when it collided head-on with a truck. Emergency responders found all occupants of the van unconscious and deceased, while the truck driver, aged 50, sustained minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
The Resita State Police reported that the truck driver allegedly entered the opposite lane, causing the collision. Firefighters and rescue teams, including vehicles equipped for extrication and SMURD ambulances, were dispatched to the scene. Traffic in the area has been completely halted until the investigation is completed.
DN6 has earned a reputation as one of Romania’s most dangerous roads, with multiple fatal crashes in recent years. Past incidents include deadly collisions between heavy trucks, pedestrian accidents, and vehicle rollovers, highlighting ongoing safety concerns along this heavily trafficked route.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have urged drivers to follow police instructions and exercise extreme caution on this stretch of road.
