A food vlogger in the Philippines has died after consuming a toxic crab known locally as the “devil crab” in an apparent attempt to create content for social media.

The 51-year-old woman reportedly ate the crab on camera, seeking to attract views online. According to reports, she became seriously ill the following day as a potent cocktail of neurotoxins entered her bloodstream.

Neighbors said she suffered convulsions while being rushed to a local health center. As her condition worsened, she was transferred to a hospital for emergency treatment. Witnesses reported that her lips had turned dark blue and that she remained unconscious.

Despite doctors’ efforts to save her, she died two days after consuming the crab.
