Iran has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will remain “completely open” for commercial shipping during the remaining period of a ceasefire in Lebanon, according to a post on X by the country’s foreign minister on Friday.
The statement said that passage for all commercial vessels through the strategic waterway is guaranteed for the duration of the truce, and linked the decision to the ongoing ceasefire arrangement in Lebanon.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route for oil and goods, remains a critical maritime passage for international trade. Iran’s announcement comes as regional tensions continue to be closely tied to developments surrounding the Lebanon ceasefire.
No further details were provided in the post regarding enforcement or conditions of the declared opening.
In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.
