A powerful storm swept through parts of central Greece on Thursday afternoon, triggering widespread flooding and severe hail damage across agricultural areas.
The extreme weather hit the municipality of Domokos particularly hard, bringing torrential rainfall, strong winds and large hailstones that inundated fields and caused extensive damage to crops.
According to local authorities, nearly the entire affected district experienced severe weather conditions. Several rural communities were among the worst hit as floodwaters spread across farmland and hailstorms battered cultivated areas.
Officials said thousands of acres of agricultural land were flooded, while thousands more suffered significant crop damage from the intense hailfall. The full scale of the destruction remains unclear, as many fields are still covered by water.
Damage Assessment Underway
Authorities have begun preparations to assess the impact of the storm once floodwaters recede. Farmers are expected to conduct initial inspections of their properties, while specialized assessment teams will also carry out on-site surveys to document the extent of the losses.
