Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has called on Donald Trump to intervene and halt the Iran war, warning that escalating tensions could drive global oil prices beyond $200 per barrel.

Speaking at the Egypt Energy Show 2026 conference in Cairo, Sisi said only the U.S. president had the power to stop the conflict spreading further across the Gulf region.

“I tell President Trump: nobody can stop the war in our region in the Gulf but you,” Sisi said, highlighting growing concerns over the economic fallout of the crisis.

Oil price fears intensify

Sisi pointed to mounting fears among analysts that crude prices could surge dramatically due to supply disruptions.

He condemned Iran’s actions, including attacks on regional energy infrastructure and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, describing them as violations of international law and a direct risk to global markets.
