007 star Daniel Craig was spotted among the roughly 90,000 concertgoers at the sold-out Metallica concert on Saturday evening at the Athens’ Olympic Stadium (OAKA), part of the iconic heavy metal band’s record-breaking “M72 World Tour.” His appearance sparked excitement among fans who recognized the former James Bond star among the crowd.

According to eyewitnesses, Craig arrived discreetly at the stadium but quickly immersed himself in the concert atmosphere, joining thousands of fans as the legendary American metal band performed a greatest-hits set under the tour’s signature 360-degree stage production. The Athens date marked the opening European date of Metallica’s 2026 concert leg, with support acts Gojira and Knocked Loose also appearing on the bill.
Beyond Metallica, Daniel Craig is currently in Greece for the filming of a new international movie production reportedly centered on a prison-break storyline. Local media have followed the actor’s recent appearances in Athens closely. Last month he was seen in Glyfada during an Orthodox Good Friday Epitaph procession alongside his wife, actress Rachel Weisz, and their daughter.

News of Craig’s attendance at the concert spread after a entrepreneur shared a photo with the actor on social media from inside the packed stadium. In the image, Craig appears relaxed and smiling, dressed in an all-black outfit and sunglasses, with the towering “M72 World Tour” stage setup visible in the background.
The OAKA concert drew tens of tens of thousands of fans from Greece and abroad, with international visitors traveling to Athens specifically for the show. The “M72 World Tour,” which began in 2023, has already attracted more than four million spectators worldwide and is widely regarded as one of the biggest live rock productions currently touring.
It is not the first time Craig has traveled to Greece for filming. The actor previously spent time on the Saronic island of Spetses during production of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”, the sequel to the successful “Knives Out” franchise.
