A temporary deterioration in weather conditions, with heavy rain, thunderstorms and possibly localized hail, is forecast from the early hours of Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, through the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 21, according to an emergency bulletin issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY).

In its updated warning, the service said severe weather will initially affect northwestern Greece, gradually spreading to the rest of western regions, the northeastern mainland and the eastern Aegean. Strong southerly winds of 7 and locally up to 8 Beaufort are also expected on Friday, temporarily in the Ionian Sea and gradually in the central and northern Aegean.

More specifically, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast as follows:

Friday:

In the northern Ionian (including Corfu, the Diapontia Islands and Paxos) and Epirus from the early hours until late morning.

In the rest of the Ionian and western Central Greece from the morning until the afternoon.

In western and southern Peloponnese from late morning until late afternoon.

In eastern Macedonia and Thrace from the afternoon onward.

In the rest of the Peloponnese, eastern Central Greece (including Attica) and Evia from early evening until late at night.

In the northeastern Aegean islands from early evening.

Saturday:

In eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean islands until the afternoon.

In the eastern Aegean islands until midday.

In the Dodecanese from the morning until midday.
