Inflation in Greece accelerated to 2.9% in Dec. 2025, according to Eurostat’s preliminary estimate, running above the eurozone average, which is expected to ease to 2.0% from 2.1% in Nov., the EU’s statistical authority reported.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices in Greece rose by 0.2% in Dec. On an annual basis, inflation remained unchanged compared with Dec. 2024, when it also stood at 2.9%. Compared with Nov. 2025, the rate edged up by 0.1 percentage points.
Across the European Union, the highest inflation rates were recorded in Estonia and Slovakia, both at 4.1%, followed by Austria at 3.9% and Croatia at 3.8%.
At the other end of the scale, Cyprus posted the lowest inflation at just 0.1%, while France recorded 0.7%, Italy 1.2%, and Finland 1.8%.
Looking at the main components of eurozone inflation, services are expected to show the highest annual increase in Dec. at 3.4%, slightly down from 3.5% in Nov.
They are followed by food, alcohol and tobacco, which rose to 2.6% from 2.4%. Non-energy industrial goods slowed to 0.4% from 0.5%, while energy prices fell more sharply, dropping by 1.9% compared with a 0.5% decline the previous month.
