The March jobless rate in Greece settled at 10.2%, compared to the upwardly revised 11.4% in March of the previous year and the downwardly revised 10.8% in February 2024, according to the country’s statistical authority, ELSTAT.

The number of unemployed individuals stood at 492,867 persons, a drop of 47,319 persons compared to March 2023 (8.8%) and a decrease of 24,176 individuals compared to February 2024 (4.7%).

According to the Labor Force Survey by ELSTAT, the number of employed persons amounted to 4,325,848, registering an increase of 115,672 individuals compared to March 2023 (2.7%) and an increase of 33,442 individuals compared to February 2024 (0.8%).

For women, the unemployment rate was 13.8% compared to 14.6% in March last year, while male unemployment stood at 7.2% down from 8.7%.

Across age groups, in the 15-24 age group, the unemployment rate was 21.1% down from 24.8% in March 2023, and in the 25-74 age group, it was 9.6% down from 10.6%.

Individuals under the age of 75 who are not included in the labor force, or “people outside the labor force” (those who are neither employed nor actively seeking employment), amounted to 2,966,414 individuals, recording a decrease of 95,459 individuals compared to March 2023 (3.1%) and a decrease of 11,608 individuals compared to February 2024 (0.4%).
