Nikos Androulakis, president of PASOK, stopped by the Megara Municipal Stadium, which is hosting an emergency reception and care station for animals affected by the wildfires, as part of his tour of the fire-hit areas of western Attica.
Androulakis was welcomed by Megara Mayor Panagiotis Margetis and volunteers from Dog’s Voice, the Megara Animal Welfare Union, and Adespotos Palmos.
Hundreds of pet and stray dogs were rescued from the fire fronts and are being cared for until they can safely return to their owners or be adopted.
“I wanted to congratulate you in person. I’ve been following your work. In every fire, every natural disaster, you’re there so that no creature is left without help. Now it’s our duty to stand beside you, to become another link in this chain of solidarity caring for and sheltering our beloved animal friends,” Androulakis said.
