Greece’s possible role in the rebuilding of Gaza was first revealed this week by the country’s foreign minister during a summit in Qatar, essentially the first time a top official has referred to the prospect of a Greek contribution beyond the dispatch of whatever humanitarian aid.
Moreover, Minister George Gerapetritis also referred to a possible contribution to a “stabilization force” for the region, without going into more details.
“Greece can act as an honest broker and a reliable interlocutor in the wider region. We plan to participate in the future of Gaza. We believe that we can contribute both to the humanitarian issue and to reconstruction and, possibly, to a stabilization force,” Gerapetritis said, while speaking at the Doha Forum 2025.

According to reports, the scenarios currently being examined for Greece’s participation in the so-called international stabilization force – as described in the Trump plan for Gaza, and which Athens also voted for last November as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, have been confirmed by sources close to the developments.
According to the same sources, it’s important for Athens to be actively engaged in Gaza and to have an active role in all subsequent stages.
As diplomatic circles report, Greece’s participation is also supported by its geostrategic role in the Eastern Mediterranean and its participation in the UN Security Council during the current period, as well as the relationships of trust with the Arab world that rank it among the forces that can substantially contribute to the normalization of life in Gaza.
