Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met in New Delhi with Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the President of the United States and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit, taking place from 16 to 20 Feb.

Their talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Greece and the United States in technology and artificial intelligence, as well as on the broader framework of EU–U.S. relations in the tech sector. Both sides explored opportunities to expand transatlantic collaboration at a time when AI is rapidly reshaping global economies and governance.

A key part of the discussion centered on the regulatory landscape surrounding artificial intelligence and its societal impact. The two officials examined approaches to ensuring responsible AI deployment, with Mitsotakis placing particular emphasis on safeguarding minors online and reinforcing digital safety standards.

The meeting also touched on the prospect of Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) developing an AI “gigafactory” in Western Macedonia, in northern Greece, a project that could position the region as a strategic hub for advanced digital infrastructure.

Mitsotakis has been in India since Wednesday, Feb. 18. On Thursday, he is scheduled to meet with his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, as part of his official visit aimed at enhancing bilateral ties. The meeting will be their third since 2023, the year Greece and India elevated their ties to a strategic partnership — a landmark diplomatic move aimed at deepening cooperation in defense, trade, and broader geopolitical affairs.
