A criminal investigation has been launched against Greek far-right MEP and party leader Afroditi Latinopoulou over allegations that the party’s founding declaration contains forged signatures.

Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis confirmed in a written statement to Parliament that a prosecutor is reviewing the authenticity of signatures on documents submitted for the establishment of Latinopoulou’s party: “Voice of Reason” (Foni tis Logikis).

According to Floridis, a case file was opened in January 2025 and remains under review by the competent prosecutor. The Supreme Court has forwarded the party’s declaration and related documents to the Interior Ministry, which oversees electoral and political party procedures in Greece.

The investigation centers on allegations that fake signatures were used to meet the legal requirement of at least 200 valid signatures from eligible Greek voters to register a political party.

Latinopoulou, 34, is known for her pro-death penalty, anti-abortion, and anti-immigration views, as well as her stance against LGBTQI+ professionals working in education.

She first launched the “Patrida – Afroditi Latinopoulou” party in 2023 to contest national elections, but the Supreme Court rejected its candidacy over legal inconsistencies. Shortly afterward, she rebranded the group as “Voice of Reason”.

Her party positions itself against what she calls “woke” culture and political correctness and openly supports European far-right figures, including Marine Le Pen and Giorgia Meloni.

There has been no official comment from Latinopoulou regarding the allegations.
