U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker has arrived in Greece for a series of high-level meetings with Greek officials, U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle announced Tuesday.
The talks are expected to focus on regional security, expanding economic cooperation and further strengthening U.S.-Greek relations.
“I am pleased to welcome Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker to Greece,” Guilfoyle said in a post announcing Hooker’s visit.

The ambassador said she looked forward to “a series of high-level meetings with our Greek partners” aimed at exploring new opportunities to strengthen regional security, expand economic cooperation and deepen bilateral ties between the United States and Greece.
Greece’s role in regional security
Guilfoyle placed particular emphasis on Greece’s geopolitical role in the region, describing the country as a key U.S. partner.
“Greece is a vital ally and a pillar of stability in the region,” she said.
She also stressed that, under the leadership of the U.S. president, Washington remains committed to further strengthening cooperation with Greece “to promote peace, security and prosperity for our two great nations and our peoples.”
Visit could precede Rubio trip
Hooker’s visit is also expected to help prepare for a possible visit to Greece by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as the sixth round of the U.S.-Greece Strategic Dialogue.
The exact date of Rubio’s potential visit has not yet been finalized.
