Inaugural high-level cooperation council between Greece and Saudi Arabia commenced on Monday, attended by visiting Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

This is Mitsotakis’ third official visit to Saudi Arabia, a visit that highlights the will to further strengthen and upgrade the strategic relations between Greece and Saudi Arabia.

"The government’s work will remain intense and multifaceted, so that day by day, something changes and the lives of all citizens become better," the prime minister stated.

As reported, Mitsotakis is "seeking" a person who will unify and secure a strong majority vote, with the prime minister planning to reveal his intentions after January 15.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis described Greece as a "beacon of stability in an unstable world" following the Epiphany water blessing ceremony at Dexameni Square in Athens.

The Greek PM minister also said his government’s business-friendly goals for 2025 including a further improvement of the business and investment environment, strengthening infrastructure and reducing bureaucracy

Mitsotakis is set to announce the next presidential candidate by end of January amid ongoing speculation.

Mitsotakis aims for the newly elected president to achieve the broadest possible acceptance, ideally being elected in the first vote or, at the latest, by the third.

Hosted in Lapland, Finland, which shares a 1,300 km border with Russia, the summit brought together South and North European leaders to discuss security, defense, and migration

“Everyone should be concerned about ensuring Syria’s territorial integrity and protecting the country’s religious minorities,” Mitsotakis noted.

PM Mitsotakis said Greece would back Albania's accession to the EU as long as it respected the rights of its ethnic Greek minority.

The Council’s agenda will include critical issues amid developments in the Middle East, as well as the ongoing Ukraine-Russian war.

“We always strive for the best possible relationship,” stated PM Mitsotakis.

The prime minister’s visit is highly symbolic and significant, as he is the first leader of a third country, and a member of the European Union, to visit Lebanon after the ceasefire agreement.
