Greek police seized 47 cannabis plants in several areas of Serres in northern Greece and arrested a man suspected of cultivating them, authorities said Friday.

Officers from the relevant Department identified the suspect after coordinated operations in the area.

In forested areas of Serres, police found 14 cannabis plants ranging from 50 to 190 centimeters (about 20 to 75 inches) tall. The plants were uprooted and seized.

Police also found 27 cannabis plants, reaching up to 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) in height, in a specially prepared cultivation area in another agricultural location in Serres. Those plants were also uprooted and seized.

A search of the suspect’s home uncovered an additional six cannabis plants, measuring up to 40 centimeters (about 16 inches) tall. Police uprooted and seized those plants as well.

Officers also found and seized a package containing 3.2 grams of raw cannabis and a precision electronic scale.

The suspect will be brought before the Serres Prosecutor of First Instance after a case file was filed against him.
