A1 Motorway Lane Closure in Greece for Road Works

Drivers heading toward Athens will face a temporary restriction on the A1 motorway as overnight asphalt works take place over a 20-day period.

Traffic restrictions have been introduced on the A1 motorway in Greece as road maintenance works begin, with the left lane closed for around 20 days.

According to motorway operator Nea Odos, the measure is required for asphalt works and will affect vehicles travelling towards Athens.

The left lane will be closed from the 91st to the 86.3rd kilometer of the motorway in the direction of Athens, from Monday, July 20, at 18:00 until Saturday, August 8, at 07:00.

Traffic will continue normally through the right lane during the works.

Overnight works planned to reduce disruption

The maintenance operations will take place daily from Monday to Friday, during night hours between 18:00 and 07:00, in an effort to minimize inconvenience for drivers and maintain traffic flow.

If the works are completed earlier than scheduled, the traffic restrictions will be lifted before the planned end date.

Nea Odos said that all necessary safety measures have been put in place for drivers, while temporary road signs will be installed to provide information and guidance throughout the affected section.
