An anchor entanglement occurred on the Cypriot-flagged passenger-vehicle ferry boat “Champions League Jet 1,” at the port of Paros on Friday afternoon, during its departure for another Cyclades island, Naxos.

According to the coast guard, the high-speed ferry is carrying 459 passengers on board, while the vessel was also transporting 21 passenger cars and five motorcycles.

A coast guard statement cited efforts being made from the ship to free its anchor, with the assistance of two private divers and a private vessel.

According to reports, the anchor entanglement was detected during departure, resulting in the vessel remaining temporarily in the port. Efforts to disengage the anchor are ongoing.
