Major service changes took effect Sunday on Athens Metro Line 3 (the Blue Line). Due to critical track replacement work, four central stations will close two and a half hours earlier than usual every day through Thursday, significantly affecting evening travel across the Greek capital.

According to an official announcement from the Athens Urban Rail Transport Company (STASY), the following stations will close at 9:40 p.m. each evening:

• Megaro Mousikis
• Ampelokipi
• Panormou
• Katehaki

During the construction works, Line 3 trains will operate only on the following sections:

• Dimotiko Theatro – Evangelismos
• Ethniki Amyna – Doukissis Plakentias – Athens International Airport

Last trains before the closures

To avoid disruption, passengers should note the departure times of the last trains before the affected stations close.

Toward Doukissis Plakentias Station

• From Dimotiko Theatro: 9:05 p.m.
• From Syntagma: 9:30 p.m.
• From Evangelismos: 9:32 p.m.
• From Megaro Mousikis: 9:33 p.m.
• From Ampelokipi: 9:35 p.m.
• From Panormou: 9:37 p.m.
• From Katehaki: 9:39 p.m.

Toward Dimotiko Theatro Station

• From Doukissis Plakentias: 9:30 p.m.
• From Ethniki Amyna: 9:40 p.m.
• From Katehaki: 9:41 p.m.
• From Panormou: 9:43 p.m.
• From Ampelokipi: 9:45 p.m.
• From Megaro Mousikis: 9:47 p.m.

Changes to airport services

The schedule changes will also affect direct Metro service to and from Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos.”

The last direct trains will depart:

• From Syntagma to the Airport: 9:30 p.m.
• From Dimotiko Theatro to the Airport: 9:05 p.m.
• From the Airport to Dimotiko Theatro: 9:10 p.m.

Important: After 9:40 p.m., trains to the airport will depart only from Ethniki Amyna station, while trains arriving from the airport will also terminate there.

Departures after 9:40 p.m. are as follows:

From Ethniki Amyna to the Airport:

• 10:17 p.m.
• 10:54 p.m.
• 11:30 p.m.

From the Airport to Ethniki Amyna:

• 9:46 p.m.
• 10:22 p.m.
• 10:58 p.m.
• 11:34 p.m.

New X21 replacement bus service

To bridge the gap between Evangelismos and Ethniki Amyna stations, the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) is introducing the temporary X21 bus line (“Evangelismos Metro Station – Ethniki Amyna Metro Station”), which will operate daily from 9:40 p.m. until the end of service.
