Drivers and motorcyclists in Athens whose license plates were removed by the Municipal Police will be able to collect them starting tomorrow, Monday Dec. 22, in a move aimed at easing travel during the Christmas period.
The return of the plates will take place after payment of the relevant fine and upon presentation of the required documents: vehicle registration, insurance policy, and a valid ID (police ID or passport).
If the plates are collected by a third party, a certified authorization will also be required. Collections will be handled at the Municipal Police offices at 22 Liosion Street, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Exceptions Apply
According to the announcement, license plates and driving licenses will not be returned in cases involving antisocial parking violations, such as parking on ramps for people with disabilities or in prohibited zones marked R-71 and R-72. The same applies to cases where relevant decisions have been issued by judicial authorities.
