Attiki Odos Section Reopens Ahead of Schedule

The stretch from Aspropyrgos to Fyli Avenue toward Athens International Airport will reopen two days earlier than planned, after heavy maintenance works were completed faster than expected

A key section of Attiki Odos, the major ring road serving the Athens metropolitan area, will reopen to traffic earlier than scheduled.

According to an official announcement, the segment from the Aspropyrgos entrance to the Fyli Avenue entrance, in the direction of Athens International Airport, is back to operating today, Friday, February 20 from 6:00 a.m. —  two days ahead of the original timetable.

The stretch had been closed to allow for essential heavy maintenance works. Authorities said that a technical issue which arose during the works has now been fully resolved.

The early reopening was attributed to close coordination between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the motorway’s concessionaire, whose crews worked intensively and continuously to complete the repairs.

In its statement, the ministry thanked drivers for their patience and for complying with traffic police instructions during the temporary closure.
