Μake us preferred on Google The death of the baby found frozen inside a suitcase at an apartment in Kypseli, Athens, is being treated as a homicide.
According to a forensic examination conducted by Professor Symeon Mesogitis, the infant had more than 10 wounds from a sharp object, likely a knife, on its back. The wounds varied in depth.
The findings indicate that the baby died from multiple stab wounds. As a result, the case file is now expected to include the offense of infanticide.
Because of the condition in which the body was found, the forensic examiner has not yet been able to determine the exact time of death or the baby’s precise age.
Initial estimates, however, indicate that the infant was approximately 8 to 9 months old.
Two children diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections
The condition of the minors has also become a major focus of the investigation.
The 9-year-old boy and the 15-year-old girl were diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections after being taken to a children’s hospital under a prosecutor’s order.
Authorities are seriously investigating the possibility that the children were sexually abused. According to the information provided, the children were found to be in poor psychological and physical condition.
Neighbors report unusual activity
Residents of the building also described unusual activity around the apartment.
Neighbors said unknown people sometimes waited outside the entrance and used their phones to signal for someone to let them inside. They also said the building’s main entrance was frequently left open.
According to their accounts, the minors were seen outside alone, including at night.
Police search second home
Investigators also searched a property on Fyilis Street, where the 43-year-old man and the 38-year-old woman reportedly lived for about two years before moving to the Kypseli apartment for approximately one month.
Investigations at both properties remain underway as authorities seek to establish the circumstances of the baby’s death and determine the relationships between the people who were living in the apartment.
