A car crashed into a clothing store in the northern Athens suburb of Vrilissia on Monday morning, causing extensive property damage but leaving no one injured.
The incident occurred on Pentelis Avenue, where the vehicle smashed through the store’s front entrance, shocking employees, customers and passers-by.
Driver reportedly confused the gears
According to initial reports, the driver was a customer at the store. While attempting to maneuver the vehicle, she reportedly mistook reverse for first gear, causing the car to surge forward and crash into the shop.
The impact completely shattered the storefront glass, with the vehicle coming to a stop inside the front of the premises.
Panic but no injuries
Witnesses said panic broke out immediately after the crash as customers and staff rushed away from the area. Passers-by also stopped to see what had happened, while emergency authorities were notified.
Although the collision caused significant material damage to the business, no injuries were reported.
Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
