A fire broke out in low vegetation in the Armolia area on the island of Chios. The blaze started on Thursday July 16, 2026, in low vegetation in Armolia, Chios.
The Fire Service’s operations center was notified of the incident today at around 2:30 PM and immediately mobilized ground and aerial crews.
20 firefighters and 9 fire engines are taking part in the operation, along with 1 helicopter working from the air.
Very High Fire Risk in the Area Today
The Municipality of Chios is supporting the firefighting effort with water tankers.
The area is currently at very high risk of fire (category 4) today.
The Lesvos Arson Investigation Unit is heading to the site to look into the cause of the fire.
