A 21-year-old driver was injured and trapped inside his vehicle after it veered off the road and plunged into a ravine approximately 20 meters deep on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred in the Ioannina region of northwestern Greece, triggering a large-scale rescue operation involving firefighters and emergency medical personnel.
Challenging Rescue Operation
According to local reports, the car left the roadway before falling into the ravine, leaving the young driver trapped inside the wreckage.
Rescue teams faced difficult conditions due to the terrain as they worked to safely reach the vehicle and free the injured motorist. Several fire service vehicles and personnel were deployed to the scene, and the operation lasted for a considerable period because of the area’s challenging landscape.

Firefighters eventually succeeded in extracting the driver using specialized rescue equipment. He was then transported by stretcher back to the roadside, where an ambulance crew took over and transferred him to hospital for medical treatment.
