Drug Ring Busted in Thessaloniki: Over 27 kg of Cannabis Seized

Two suspects, aged 28 and 24, were arrested following a coordinated effort that combined intelligence analysis with targeted police actions.

Greek police have dismantled a criminal network involved in the trafficking and storage of raw cannabis (skunk) in Thessaloniki, authorities announced.

The operation, carried out on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, was led by the Northern Greece Organized Crime Unit’s Narcotics Division, with support from specialized operational teams. Two suspects, aged 28 and 24, were arrested following a coordinated effort that combined intelligence analysis with targeted police actions.

According to investigators, the 28-year-old allegedly handled large-scale distribution of narcotics, while the younger suspect received and stored the substances at his residence, which functioned as a stash house.

Searches of the suspects’ homes and personal belongings led to the seizure of more than 27 kilograms of raw cannabis packaged in vacuum-sealed bags, along with smaller quantities of processed cannabis and cocaine. Authorities also recovered cash, a vehicle used for transportation, mobile phones, SIM cards, precision scales, handwritten notes, and packaging materials linked to drug distribution.

Police further noted that the older suspect had a prior record for similar offenses and was already under a travel ban imposed by judicial authorities.

Both individuals have been referred to the appropriate judicial bodies. Charges include violations of narcotics laws and participation in a criminal organization, as the investigation continues.
