Greece and France have reaffirmed their strong defense partnership through a series of coordinated military demonstrations showcasing elite special forces operations and advanced air capabilities across multiple sites in Greece.
The joint activities featured Special Forces from both countries conducting high-intensity operational scenarios in Megara and coordinated exercises at military facilities in Tanagra, reflecting close strategic cooperation and interoperability between the two armed forces.

Special Forces Exercises in Megara
At a military training area near Megara, units from Greece’s Special Warfare Command worked alongside French special operations forces in a range of combat and amphibious-style scenarios.
The drills included simulated battlefield operations designed to test readiness, coordination, and rapid response under complex and high-pressure conditions. Senior military leadership from both countries observed the exercises, underscoring the importance of the joint training.
High-Level Defense Talks in Athens
The French Chief of Defense Staff, General Fabien Mandon, visited Greece on an official trip following an invitation from the head of Greece’s Armed Forces. During his stay, he met with his Greek counterpart at a military headquarters in Athens.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation, addressing shared security challenges, and further deepening coordination between the two armed forces.
Rafale Fighter Jet Demonstration in Tanagra
The visit concluded at a major air base in Tanagra, where the French general observed a demonstration of Greece’s Rafale fighter jets. The aircraft, developed in France, have become a central component of Greece’s air defense capability and a key symbol of the countries’ defense cooperation.
The French delegation also visited the facilities of Greece’s aerospace industry, highlighting the importance of technical support and industrial collaboration linked to their defense agreements.
