The Greek government officially launched its new digital health platform, MyHealth, on Monday, marking the start of the nationwide implementation of the National Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. According to the Ministry of Health, the platform is designed to centralize and digitize citizens’ medical data in a secure and user-friendly environment, with the aim of improving healthcare services for both patients and providers.

The EHR system provides citizens access to their comprehensive health records—including diagnoses, prescriptions, test results, and hospitalizations—via the portal citizen.ehealthrecord.gov.gr. Healthcare professionals can use doctor.ehealthrecord.gov.gr to view their patients’ complete medical histories, a feature intended to enhance personalized care and streamline clinical practices.

The Ministry outlined several anticipated benefits for citizens, including the ability to access their medical information at any time and improved communication with healthcare providers. The platform also integrates AI-powered digital assistants for users navigate to and manage their health data.

For doctors, the platform offers centralized access to patient information from across the healthcare system. AI tools are also available to aid in system navigation and data analysis.

Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis described the launch as “a historic moment for the digital reform of public health in Greece,” and emphasized the collaborative efforts between government bodies in its development.

“It is the culmination of a major project that was implemented with consistency and vision by the Ministry of Health, the Hellenic Institute of Public Health and the Ministry of Digital Governance,” Georgiadis said. “EHR essentially transforms the way in which medical information is transferred and utilized by health professionals, ensuring immediate and secure access to critical data, both in regular appointments and in emergencies.”

Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou concurred, “The National Electronic Health Record brings a major change in the health sector, significantly helping citizens and doctors. Simply and easily, at any time and from any place, citizens will have access to all their health information through the MyHealth App,” he said. “It is a key reform that naturally facilitates citizens, but also reduces bureaucracy, as we no longer need to carry papers with tests.”

The new system is part of a broader effort by Greek authorities to modernize public services and expand digital infrastructure in healthcare.
