Greece will see mostly clear weather on Monday, August 31, with temperatures reaching 34 to 36 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country, according to the National Meteorological Service.

Temporary cloud cover is expected around midday and in the afternoon in western and northern mainland areas, where localized showers will occur, mainly in mountainous regions. Visibility will also be locally reduced in western Greece during the morning.

Winds will come from southerly directions in western Greece and from northerly directions in the east, reaching 3 to 5 Beaufort, with winds locally reaching 6 to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea.

Macedonia and Thrace: Mostly clear, with temporary cloud cover in Macedonia during the afternoon and localized showers in mountainous areas. Winds will be variable at 2 to 3 Beaufort, with easterly winds reaching 4 Beaufort in eastern areas in the morning. Temperatures will range from 19 to 34 C, locally reaching 35 C.

Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece and Western Peloponnese: Mostly clear, with temporary afternoon cloud cover over mainland areas. Local showers or isolated thunderstorms are possible in mountainous areas. Southerly winds will reach 3 to 4 Beaufort, locally reaching 5 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea. Temperatures will range from 22 to 36 C.

Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece, Evia and Eastern Peloponnese: Mostly clear, with temporary afternoon cloud cover over mountainous areas, where localized showers are possible. Winds will be easterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, locally reaching 5 Beaufort from the northeast in eastern areas. Temperatures will range from 20 to 35 C.

Cyclades and Crete: Clear skies are expected. Northerly winds will reach 4 to 6 Beaufort and locally 7 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 22 to 32 C, reaching 34 to 35 C locally in southern Crete.

Eastern Aegean Islands and Dodecanese: Clear weather with northerly winds at 4 to 6 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 22 to 33 C, locally reaching 34 C in southern areas.

Attica: Mostly clear, with variable winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort and northeasterly winds reaching 5 Beaufort in eastern areas. Temperatures will range from 23 to 34 C, locally reaching 35 C.

Thessaloniki: Mostly clear, with temporary afternoon cloud cover over the surrounding mountains and possible localized showers. Winds will be variable at 2 to 3 Beaufort, temporarily becoming southerly to southeasterly at up to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 21 to 32 C.

Weather outlook for the coming days

On Tuesday, September 1, mostly clear weather will continue, with temporary afternoon cloud cover and localized showers in mountainous areas of western and northern mainland Greece. Morning visibility will again be locally reduced in western areas. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with highs of 34 to 36 C.

On Wednesday, September 2, mostly clear conditions will continue initially, before temporary cloud cover develops over mainland areas from midday. Local rain or showers are expected, with isolated thunderstorms mainly in northern Greece continuing into the night. Northerly winds will reach 3 to 5 Beaufort in the west and 4 to 6 Beaufort in the east, locally reaching 7 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will remain at similar levels.

On Thursday, September 3, temporary increases in cloud cover are expected initially in Macedonia and gradually across other mainland areas, as well as temporarily over the Ionian Sea and northern Aegean. Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected, particularly in mountainous areas. Elsewhere, conditions will remain mostly clear.

Northerly winds will reach 4 to 6 Beaufort and locally 7 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will dip slightly in northern Greece.
