A 58-year-old businessman has been arrested in a coastal suburb of Athens after a routine police check uncovered weapons and a forged driving license, Greek authorities confirmed.

The incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, January 13, in Palaio Faliro, a residential and commercial area along the Athens coastline. During the inspection, police officers found that the man was carrying two handguns, three bullets, a magazine, and a folding knife. Further checks revealed that his driving license was counterfeit.

The suspect was taken into custody by the local police security department, where he remains detained. Authorities have not released details about the origin of the weapons or whether they were legally registered, while the investigation into the case is ongoing.
