Greece’s Labor and Social Security Minister Nikki Kerameus is in Brussels, where she will brief the EU Ministers’ council on a landmark collective bargaining agreement between the Greek government and the country’s unions.

Arriving at the council on Monday, the Greek minister told reporters she would “inform Roxana Minzatu, the European Commissioner for Social Rights and Jobs, of the landmark national social agreement reached last week between the Greek government and all social partners.”

She went on to stress the deal “reinforced collective work contracts in our country, protected more, leading to the security of more employees from collective contracts, provided a more stable working environment for businesses, and laid down clear-cut regulations in the work market.”

Kerameus said the Council of Ministers would discuss issues related to simplifying procedures and strengthening compliance with labor and social insurance legislation, as well as matters concerning work permits.
