Police in Athens are investigating a shooting incident that occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday in the southern suburb of Ilioupoli.

According to initial reports, two unidentified men riding a motorcycle stopped outside a two-story residential building on Chalkokondyli Street and opened fire at its entrance.

The shots left three visible holes in the front of the building, but no injuries were reported.

Officers responding to the scene recovered two shell casings, a bullet, and a cartridge. These items have been sent to forensic laboratories for analysis.

The gunmen fled in an unknown direction and remain at large. Authorities are now working to determine who the intended target may have been, with early indications suggesting the attack could have been a warning message directed at a resident of the building.

Police patrols in the area have been increased as the investigation continues.
