IDM Kalamata is set to develop a major luxury resort along the western coastline of Kalamata, in the area known as Bournia, with a total investment of approximately €136.5 million. The project has been submitted for public consultation through Enterprise Greece.
The proposed development will cover a coastal area of 205,742.73 square meters and is designed as a comprehensive resort destination combining high-quality accommodation, leisure, and cultural amenities.
Project Details
The resort will feature:
- A five-star hotel with 140 rooms
- 248 luxury residences
- Restaurants, cafés, and dining areas
- Wellness and sports facilities
- Spaces for mild marine activities
- Small-scale commercial areas
- Organized public green spaces and communal areas
The total built area is expected to reach approximately 39,700 square meters, creating a fully integrated environment for premium tourism and recreation while promoting sustainable use of the coastal zone.
Economic Impact
The investment is projected to generate at least 75 permanent jobs, contributing to local economic growth and sustainable employment. The development is expected to enhance Kalamata and the broader Messinia region as an attractive destination for high-end tourism, strengthening the area’s profile as an emerging Mediterranean destination.
Strategic Investment Status
IDM Kalamata has applied for classification as a Category 1 Strategic Investment under Greek Law 4864/2021, which allows for:
- Fast-track permitting and approval through a Special Spatial Development Plan for Strategic Investments
- Use of coastal areas under legal provisions for shoreline and beach access
- Implementation of supplementary infrastructure works

IDM Kalamata was founded in September 2023. The company is majority-owned and managed by Pinni Sarfati, who also oversees operations in residential and commercial projects in the U.S. (Manhattan) and Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, and Greece).
