German authorities have requested a DNA sample from the mother of missing 16-year-old Laura, marking a significant development in the high-profile case nearly one month after the teenager disappeared.

Investigators in Germany asked for the genetic sample to support identification efforts during the search. According to reports, the DNA reference would allow authorities to confirm Laura’s identity if they locate a girl believed to be her, even if she denies who she is or if biological traces are found in a residence.

At the same time, European judicial cooperation agency Eurojust has been activated, and a European investigation order has been issued to help locate the missing teen. This order enables measures such as lifting communication privacy, analyzing DNA samples, conducting home searches, and examining electronic devices and email accounts linked to Laura.

Laura’s father has traveled from Greece to Germany to assist in the search, while her mother remains at the family home. It is not yet known why he chose to go now, about 10 days after information emerged suggesting the girl might be in Frankfurt.

Family acquaintances say there have been no confirmed new clues about Laura’s whereabouts. They describe the parents as deeply worried and trying to avoid public attention and rumors. Neighbors say the family has kept a low profile since the disappearance, rarely leaving home and showing visible signs of distress.

The case continues to attract strong media coverage in Germany, while social media users have shared numerous posts in an effort to help find the teen.
