Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Minor in Athens Suburb

The supect is a foreigner and resisted arrest

Police arrested a 55-year-old man who is alleged to have sexually assaulted a teenage girl in Peania, a small town located 20 kilometers northeast of Athens.

The man, who is a foreign national, was charged with felonies of sexual abuse and attempted solicitation of a minor, possession of drugs, and resisting arrest.

According to the police report, the man approached the 15-year-old girl at a bus stop and made sexual advances towards her while showing her inappropriate content on his mobile phone.

He then suggested they engage in lewd acts in exchange for money, before the teenager walked away and boarded the bus. After the girl notified the police, an investigation was launched leading to his arrest.

The suspect resisted arrest and was taken to the local Police Station, where he was identified as the perpetrator of the attack.

After a search, officers seized a small quantity of cannabis in his possession, 650 euros, and a mobile phone. The suspect was taken to the Prosecutor of the Athens Plenary Court.
