A 44-year-old Iranian national has been arrested in Athens after authorities seized 436.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine during an operation targeting suspected drug trafficking activity.

The arrest was carried out by the Greek Coast Guard following an investigation into the alleged involvement of the man in the distribution and sale of illegal substances.

Authorities discover drugs during home search

The operation took place early Sunday morning by officers from the Security Office of the Elefsina Port Authority, after information was gathered regarding the suspect’s alleged activities.

Authorities located the man and searched a residence in Athens where the drugs were reportedly being hidden.

The search was conducted in the presence of a prosecutor, with assistance from the Narcotics Enforcement Unit of the Rafina Port Authority, the drug detection dog “Ranto” and the Special Operations Team of Piraeus.

During the investigation, officers found two packages containing a total of 436.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Additional items seized

Authorities also discovered a number of empty packages believed to have been used for dividing and distributing individual doses, along with a metal grinder containing traces of cannabis, two USB storage devices and a mobile phone.

The seized drugs were estimated by authorities to have a total value of approximately €6,540.

Investigation into possible wider network

The 44-year-old was arrested on charges related to violations of Greece’s legislation on controlled substances.

The Elefsina Port Authority is conducting the preliminary investigation and examining whether the suspect may have links to broader drug trafficking networks.
