The swift response of emergency crews proved lifesaving on Saturday night in the city of Chalkida, after a resident was found unconscious inside his apartment.
According to local news outlet EviaThema.gr, the incident occurred in an apartment building on Androu Street, prompting an immediate response from the Fire Service and Greece’s National Emergency Medical Service (EKAB). Authorities received an emergency call, and rescue teams arrived at the scene within minutes.
When they arrived, first responders found the apartment locked and were unable to gain access. Given the urgency of the situation, firefighters carried out a controlled breakage of a window to enter the residence.
Inside the apartment, rescuers found the occupant unconscious. His condition was consistent with severe heatstroke, believed to have been caused by prolonged exposure to extreme heat inside the enclosed space.
The ambulance crew, which had already arrived outside the building, immediately began treating the man. Paramedics administered first aid, supported his vital functions, and worked to lower his body temperature as quickly as possible.
After his condition was stabilized, the man was rushed to Chalkida General Hospital, where emergency department doctors and nursing staff took over his care, placing him under continuous monitoring and providing the appropriate treatment.
